Pentecost (Ancient Greek: Πεντηκοστή [ἡμέρα], Pentēkostē [hēmera], "the Fiftieth [day]") is a prominent feast in the calendar of Ancient Israel celebrating the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai, and also later in the Christian liturgical year commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and Disciples of Christ.
The Church celebrates Pentecost (Sunday) 50 days after Easter Sunday. Pentecost falls on the 10th day after Ascension Thursday (i.e. the Ascension of Jesus Christ into Heaven after His death and resurrection).
This webpage is specially dedicated to the Holy Spirit, the 3rd Person of the Almighty God.
Important Note: Only proceed to read further if you want to know the Holy Spirit better with goodwill. 8-)
Many of us who have “tasted” of the Holy Spirit would always remember this special day and it would bring back many beautiful memories of the past especially when we have first experienced the out-pouring of the Holy Spirit into our lives. For many of us, it might be during the Sacrament of Confirmation, the 1st Life in the Spirit Seminar that we attended, the 1st Healing Mass etc. where we joined with others in praise and worship, invoking the Holy Spirit to come into our lives and take charge, don’t we recall the memorable experience of “fire and regeneration” within us?
Many Christians who were baptized very young would agree with me that, although we have studied about the Holy Spirit since young in our religious /catechism classes, the knowledge that we had acquired remained purely “intellectual” and the God whom we worshiped only appeared important when we got into some difficulty and we would run to Him for help. Well, we had never realized that if we “walk with God and live in Him” we would have avoided many difficulties and problems, which could be self-created.
Don’t you know that the God whom we put our trust, is not only our Creator, but He is also the God of the entire Universe; including the Commercial world? Don’t you know that He who is Wisdom (including intelligence), is able to read human minds, foretell the future and direct us to good and profitable transactions, which would also bring honour instead of shame & disgrace?
Since the day that I have decided to walk with God and let the Holy Spirit lead me in Professional Training and Work as a Specialist Consultant, I have never regretted to have made this important commitment. Everyone who works in the commercial world knows that in project work, things could become “complicated or chaotic”. To be a Specialist Consultant for my clients, I would need to have those problems created by ?? resolved quickly technically, contractually and commercially so that the project work could proceed smoothly without delay and help the clients to remain financially sound ultimately…
All these would never be possible without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, who prompts me to avoid harmful commercial transactions, choosing the right people to work with in my projects, giving me fresh inspirations in all my endeavours and eventually crown all my efforts with Success. All thanks to the Holy Spirit. |
Before Jesus was ascended to heaven, he specifically told His Apostles, Disciples not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the promised Holy Spirit - See Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 1:1-11 .
What really happened on the 1st “Christian” Pentecost Sunday at Jerusalem? See Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 2 .
Peter addressed them, 'I now really understand', he said, 'that God has no favourites, but that anybody of any nationality who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him…’. Thus, the Holy Spirit would be given to all Christians who fear God and behave in an upright manner. See Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 10 .
What does the Holy Spirit do to the persons that He anoints and enters? Giving life and initiate a chain of regenerations within the Children of God. See the prophet Ezekiel, Chapter 37: 1-14 . 2 June 2012

God gave the Law to Moses at Mount Sinai - Extracted from the Book of Exodus, Chapter 19:3-8,16-20
Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, ‘Say this to the House of Jacob, declare this to the sons of Israel:
‘“You yourselves have seen what I did with the Egyptians, how I carried you on eagle’s wings and brought you to myself. From this you know that now, if you obey my voice and hold fast to my covenant, you of all the nations shall be my very own, for all the earth is mine. I will count you a kingdom of priests, a consecrated nation.”
‘Those are the words you are to speak to the sons of Israel.’
So Moses went and summoned the elders of the people, putting before them all that the Lord had bidden him. Then all the people answered as one, ‘All that the Lord has said, we will do.’
Now at daybreak on the third (3rd) day there were peals of thunder on the mountain and lightning flashes, a dense cloud, and a loud trumpet blast, and inside the camp all the people trembled. Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the bottom of the mountain. The mountain of Sinai was entirely wrapped in smoke, because the Lord had descended on it in the form of fire. Like smoke from a furnace the smoke went up, and the whole mountain shook violently. Louder and louder grew the sound of the trumpet. Moses spoke, and God answered him with peals of thunder. The Lord came down on the mountain of Sinai, on the mountain top, and the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain. Sharing: Listen to “On Eagle’s Wings” & “Like Eagles”@ http://www.youtube.com |
I will pour out my spirit on all mankind - Extracted from the prophet Joel, Chapter 3:1-5
Thus says the Lord:
‘I will pour out my spirit on all mankind.
Your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams,
and your young men see visions.
Even on the slaves, men and women, will I pour out my spirit in those days.
I will display portents in heaven and on earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.’
The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
before the day of the Lord dawns, that great and terrible day.
All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved,
for on Mount Zion there will be some who have escaped,
as the Lord has said, and in Jerusalem some survivors whom the Lord will call. |
